Thank you so much for your lovely comments yesterday - what a lovely lot you are, to be sure. xx
So - right at this moment we have had a bit of a storm earlier, some rain and it's cooler outside than in so windows are open and fans are placed to such the cooler air in. It looks as if we might get a bit more rain so I am keeping one eye on the window (which sounds uncomfortable but you know what I mean) as I type.
What isn't comfortable is that I, like a lot of you, I suspect, am feeling uncomfortably bloated. I know I'm drinking a lot but I guess heat has that effect. On the other hand, I've just been in the garden tying up the tomatoes (no need to water, yay) and, pre meds, only one sneeze so that's good.
Last night wasn't all that bad. I have a routine - get the fans going in the bedroom and then have a cool bath, lie on a towel on the bed and let the fan air dry me off - it's beautifully cooling. If I want cover, I use another towel. I won't say it was the best night's sleep but it was loads better that earlier in the week. What tricks do you have?
There's one thing on the agenda today - it's Community Garden day, ten to about twelve. I'll go and do a but but if it gets too warm (it's supposed to remain super hot in the east and south east today) I will come home and chill in front of the fan. It's getting very boring, not doing much, but better than overheating. :-)
Next week is quite a busy week so a quiet weekend sounds good, doesn't it?
Have a lovely day, everyone, and I hope it is very much fresher and nicer where you are now. xx
It's still mega hot here in Hampshire like you all windows open whilst it's a bit cooler .There was about 5minutes of rain last night but that's all and predicted to be 30Deg today.. I'm also feeling very bloated I read somewhere that its normal due to thway our bodies regulate our temperature. Have a good day
ReplyDeleteIt's so uncomfortable, isn't it? I'm so looking forward to some cooler days next week. xx
DeleteIt will be good to have some respite from the heat. Take it easy in the Community Garden, if that's possible, though I know you're very fit and well hydrated.
ReplyDeleteI hope yesterday's sadness has passed.
It was hot by the end but I came home, had a cold-ish shower and it was fine. It is definitely more comfortable at the moment than it was this time yesterday and I don't feel damp and sticky.
DeleteYet!
xx
It's a little cooler today here in the north west, with a nice sea breeze, although we had a brief rain shower this morning which just made things more humid. Hope you get relief from the heat over the coming days.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds so good. The sea breeze, not the humidity. It's very much nicer here this morning (Sunday), a great relief. xx
DeleteDefinitely hard to sleep when it's hot and I just feel so drained.
ReplyDeleteIt really takes it out of us - so uncomfortable and, as you say, draining. xx
DeleteBefore bed take a warmish shower so the air in bedroom seems cooler and my best card is: going to bed with my hair still wet. Wendy (who does not handle this warm weather wel ;-)
ReplyDeleteI never thought of wet hair - I'll remember that one. The cool baths really did help a lot.
DeleteI'm OK with warm, it's the humidity that does it for me. Hoping it is much nicer your way today. xx
My trick is that I sleep with no socks on and if the fan cools my feet, that usually helps. And also, we make sure to take showers well before bed as not to add extra heat to the bedroom because ours is connected.
ReplyDeleteSocks help a lot in the winter - my feet tend to be cold anyway - but fanning the feet - never thought of that but worth a try if we have any more heatwaves, thanks. xx
DeleteSure thing! It helps me a lot. And then my feeties get cold and I get all snuggly.
DeleteYour routine sounds great. Here in the north we haven't experienced your extremes of heat, but I find that keeping the curtains and blinds closed during the day really helps to keep the house nice and cool. X
ReplyDeleteNo, but on the other hand you are used to cooler temperatures so it probably still feels pretty overwhelming.
DeleteYou can see why houses in warmer countries have shutters, can't you? xx
