Saturday morning started with me driving Alex home before meeting the others for our golden oldies walk. This was lovely with lots of chatter and laughter.
Then I came home and pottered around doing this, that and the other. I washed Alex's sheets and will make the bed up again so it is ready, just in case.
I was so very tired again - after going through a spell of sleeping until a reasonable time, I am now waking too early again and not able to get properly back to sleep. It's annoying but it will pass.

I spent the morning getting things ready for the afternoon tea.
The lovely Sharon, my hairdresser, has launched a second string to her bow, that of making cakes and afternoon teas and we were, I think, her first afternoon tea customers. And what a spread she provided. Three different kinds of sandwiches, scones, jam and cream and two different cakes the lemon drizzle cake was to die for.
I provided some Delia's vegetarian sausage rolls because we all love them.
Apologies for the dreadful lighting.
Beth and Alex went home with a goodly amount of leftovers and, after measuring arms and backs and other bits and bobs, I can continue with the hexa-cardi for Beth. She's so pleased with the yarn colour. I am relieved; online you don't always see the colour as it really is but this was pretty close. She dropped a few hints about leftover yarn and bobble hats. I can do that!!
And now the house is my own again. everything is cleared, the pretty china is away again and I'm feeling exceedingly tired but not too tired to watch the Strictly results show. I'm going to try to stay awake until about nine thirty because if I go to bed too early, I am sure to wake too early too.
I've been enjoying (having not watched it when it was on BBC1 - or was it 2?) the David Mitchell comedy detective thingy, Ludwig. I think it is one of the best things I've watched for a long time. I'm a fan of David (and Victoria) anyway, love his sense of humour and am so, so enjoying Ludwig. I'll probably watch the next episode after Strictly amd I'm really glad there's going to be another series next year.
Did you watch it?
Sleep tight, everyone. xx
I really enjoyed Ludwig and I believe they are making a second series.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I read. It struck me as a cross between Poirot and Columbo with a good sprinkle of Mitchell to spice it up. So very enjoyable. xx
DeleteDid watch Strictly and was surprised at the result! Spent some of today painting baubles-all will eventually be revealed on FB. Catriona
ReplyDeleteI was surprised too and it certainly wasn't a unanimous decision, was it? I was pretty sure neither of them would get very much further anyway.
DeleteAs for the rest, any of them could win it on a good day, I think, apart from the popular vote couple who I really want to win it because I think they are fab and amazing. (but the celebrity is not the best dancer, just totally awesome)
xx
I hope that you can get the right amount of sleep once again. When we left our son's place this morning it was raining and windy. That seemed to follow us home and finally caught up with us about an hour ago. The wind is making it feel well below freezing tonight.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Brrr - it sounds very wintry. Have you had any snow yet (MUST catch up with your blog!)
DeleteI have slept very well thanks - such a relief. It was worth making myself stay awake a bit longer. xx
That afternoon tea looks scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteYes, didn't like the result at all. I thought Shane was dancing beautifully in the dance- off and he was feeling it. I was put off by Wyn last week when he included singing. It was unfair to the other couples, it's a dancing not singing contest.
I suppose singing is part of what he is - other's have included other skills - I remember when that Olympic gymnast (Louis someone-or-other) included some gymnastic moves in his sequence.
DeleteI think last night it all depended on which style of dance you prefer really - and I really don't think wither would have lasted much longer. It's just a shame about missing Blackpool.
xx
My sleep patterns seem to go in cycles too.....although, generally speaking, I do sleep much better in our new home, but still have a few nights on the trot when I seem to be awake more than asleep. Annoying, but I don't get upset about it, I just put the light on and read, knowing it will pass sooner or later. Looks like the weakest dancers are now - rightly so - being in the dance off. There are some fantastic dancers this year, more of them than usual I think. xx
ReplyDeleteTotally agree - It is going to be hard to choose between them, I think. I guess it usually boils down to a popularity contest at the end anyway. xx
DeleteThat spread looks delicious. Yes, Ludwig was excellent and such a change from other stuff on telly at the moment. Strictly continues to give some sparkle to the weekend thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteAlison in Wales x
There's some stunning costumes, aren't there? Really fab. xx
DeleteYour afternoon tea looks delicious. I tried to watch Ludwig, but I think it was David that put me off, I've never been a fan of his, although | love Victoria's quick wit ... which perhaps doesn't come across very well on the Only Connect intros!
ReplyDeleteMaybe not but it comes over well on programmes like Have I Got News For You and QI, I think.
DeleteIt was very delicious, thank you. xx
Ugh, I hate it when sleep goes like that. I tend to have cycles where I'm tired all the time and then others where I wake up at silly o'clock and can't get back to sleep! I never used to have this problem when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteNor I (apart from times like lesson observations, OFSTED, Christmas shows, etc)- it's a bit frustrating at time but I am just thankful I have the time to absorb it and catch up nowadays. xx
DeleteI hope your sleep pattern settles down, Joy. I wake at 5.30 every day, so it was a pleasant surprise that I 'slept in' till 6 this morning.
ReplyDeleteYour afternoon tea looks delicious. Xx
It was lovely but not something I would want to do that often. How they had afternoon tea every day in the olden days is beyond me!
DeleteIt's lovely when those lie ins strike, isn't it? xx
