A very quick one - the back is a bit of a nightmare at the moment, I didn't do much yesterday and I'm doing even less today so it's all a bit boring at the moment.
My advice is to get an appointment with an osteopath or physiotherapist as soon as possible. It will be money well spent. Apart from treatment they will be able to advise on simple exercises during and/or after recovery. Good luck!
Do what feels right for you, a physio turned out to be entirely wrong for me, every case is completely different. It must be the season for backs, as my brother has just rang to see if I can do Mum's shopping this week as his back has gone again and he's off work on the sick. I hope you soon feel better, there's really nothing worse than continual pain.
Oh, no. My heart goes out to him. How's your back? You've had so much trouble with it over the last years. I've been pondering what to do (if anything) and it won't involve my GP - apart from the difficulty of getting an appointment, I feel there are better sources of help nowadays for this sort of thing. xx
I just take each day as I find it. I'm classed as living with chronic pain as it never goes away, it's just held at manageable levels with four doses of paracetamol every day. I am allergic to any medication containing codeine so that's my only option. I find ways to manage most of what I used to do, but I can't walk very far without a sit down. But shhh ... I don't like to broadcast it too much. :-)
Oh gosh Joy what a nightmare, very little compares to back pain. My husband and daughter used to have back problems and swear by the chiropractor - he sorted my shoulder and foot out in no time. Don't overdo things. Thinking of you. Suze x
Sorry you are suffering. It would appear that you need medical intervention. In our case it was a local chiropractor who has his own clinic. Yes the pain felt muscular as the muscles went into spasm, but the skeleton needed re-aligning. The 'scaffolding' needed to be put right in the first place. We are doing well with a 6-weekly maintenance visit now and feel it is money well spent. In the meantime all I can recommend is a 5-10 minutes icepack on the troublesome spot, three times a day, to ease the pain somewhat. Best wishes, Annabeth xx
I am, thanks, that's very kind, it's just the back stopping me from doing much. No point blogging one long whinge. I'll start posting again tomorrow, promise. xx
Thanks, Chris. It's very pretty, isn't it? I've loved them since childhood when Dad used to grow cuttings for the garden - not that I take cuttings now. xx

ReplyDeleteSomething to think about, thanks. xx
DeleteI really feel for you, Joy, it's really debilitating. I second the advice about the osteopath especially, mine worked wonders. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks, very much, Sooze. I really appreciate that. xx
DeleteOh heck, back pain is a nightmare - here's hoping it goes very quickly
ReplyDeleteIt has been a bit of a nightmare these last two days but, thankfully, it seems to be easing slightly (Monday evening). A great relief. xx
DeleteTake it easy - you don't have much choice - and consult a professional pdq. x x
ReplyDeleteWell, no, not really. I'm going to see how it all goes - consulting a pro is not the easiest thing in the world nowadays, is it?
DeleteThanks, Janice. xx
