Saturday

Morning, everyone.  Cloudy and rather chilly this morning and the heating doesn't know whether to be on or off - I keep hearing the thermostat clicking in (or out)!

Well, after saying things were better yesterday, I had a bit of a relapse and I was so, so tired I slept most of the afternoon away.  Oh, well, at least I can rest, if necessary.

I got the shopping done and put away so that was good.  I also managed to sort out two more bags of stuff in the freezer which was also good.  And got on with some knitting in between dozes.  Now I just feel worn out really.  Maybe it wasn't just the sorbitol, who knows?

Today, I had planned to mix and make the Christmas cake but maybe I'll wait until tomorrow.  I'll see how I feel later on and decide then.
I also have some washing and ironing but, again, nothing urgent.
What I do have to do is some slow cooking.  When I sorted out the freezer, there were some random and very old lamb chops and lamb sizzle steaks (don't ask - I have no idea) which I remember were very tough so they have defrosted and I'm going to slow casserole them until falling apart, get rid of every little bit of fat and then re-freeze in single portions for things like lamb hotpot, etc.  Can't waste lamb, even if it is old or tough.

So it's another gentle, undemanding day and, maybe, I will feel a bit brighter tomorrow.
Have a great day, take care and I hope everyone is OK.  xx

  1. I do hope you are feeling better today. A gentle, undemanding day sounds like a perfect remedy.

Congratulations on your weight loss - it may not be as much as you would wish but the scales are heading in the right direction and it all adds up. xx

    1. Thank you. I'm being very positive because, yes, even half a pound at a time mounts up and think of a small packet of lard. :-)
I've just spent some time pottering in the kitchen and am starting to feel brighter. I do enjoy a good kitchen potter. :-)

  3. I was tempted with lamb chops at the supermarket today as they were on special but still expensive so decided not. They are rather fatty, aren't they?

    1. Yes, they are. It took me a while to get off all the fat but I'm fairly confident that it's as good as possible and one can't waste lamb - it's very expensive.

  5. How are you feeling today? Hope you are getting over whatever it was that knocked you for six. Lamb is my absolute favourite meat but it's so darn expensive isn't it.

    1. Shockingly so. Nice for a treat now and again and I am rather pleased with how the slow casseroled meat turned out. Tender but not mushy.
Feeling much brighter today, many thanks. xx

  6. Good idea with the lamb any fat will rise to the top and you can easily get rid of it. Sorry you are feeling so tired but at least you can sleep if you want to.

    1. Getting the fat off the stock was a doddle! I used my hands for the actual meat and they felt lovely and soft afterwards. In the olden days they certainly wouldn't have thrown it away like I did!!
One of the many good things about being retired and being solo is that, yes, I can drop just about everything and rest, when needed. It's good.
