Wednesday evening, 30-10-24

Evening, everyone.  This week (and the end of the month) is going so very quickly.  Are you finding that too.  It has been another very dull day today but no rain as far as I could see.

Today was a day of changed plans.

First thing this morning, I was rootling in the yarn cupboard and found a forgotten 'work in progress', a granny cardigan I was trying to make that didn't work out well at all so I just gave up and shoved it in the cupboard.  However, it was lots of perfectly good squares with all the ends sewn in and I had joined using the join as you go method so it was relatively easy to unpick the joining and release the squares.
It was actually quite good fun and I decided I really didn't NEED to go to B&M, etc, and I would rather get this done.
So I did and now I have a big pile of squares to consider plus a whole load of white in shortish lengths that will probably be very annoying but it's definitely usable, all the same.
It took ages but all done now and bagged up until I decide what to do with them which won't be until after Christmas now.

This afternoon, I set off for the hall where the group met but - don't all laugh at once - it was last week, not this.  As it is a once a month thing, I have three weeks to wait before I can give it a try out.  A bit disappointing but I had to laugh.

I decided that, as I didn't go this morning, I could do what I didn't do this morning this afternoon instead.
All I wanted really was some wooden spoons, a set of washing up brushes; both spoons and brushes are pretty antique and I knew I could get them at B&M.  I could have got them in Wilkinsons too but that's now closed, of course.

I also had a nosey round (not that impressed) but I was thrilled to see that they had H2O Glitterberry and we love Glitterberry for family Christmas occasions.  It tends to sell out quickly so I seized the opportunity and stocked up.

So not the day I had expected but useful, all the same.

And I will double check the date of the next Knit and Natter meeting!

I asked Beth and she said I could so here's what she is negotiating this week, having cleared her bedroom.  This is the living room and there's more in Alex's room too.

Bless her . . .

Time to start chilling so I will love you and leave you and wish us all a great night's sleep.  xx

  1. Decorating is fine once it is over! Well done on your unpicking-would you be able to make another slipover? Catriona

    1. I might - or maybe there's enough for a cardigan if I can get the shape right. I have time to ponder because I won't even think of it until after I have finished the Moroccan tiles project.
I do know it won't end up as a blanket though. xx

    1. It's very nice and, with the glitter, very festive. It is a nice mixer for gin or vodka or added to bubbly as a sort of cocktail as well as a drink by itself. xx

  3. What a shame you missed this month's group. Fingers crossed you get the right day next time :)
And I'm sure the upheaval will feel worthwhile for Beth, once the decorating is complete. It must just be a nuisance while she's in amongst it, for now. Xx

Yes, it will be worth it and also it did force a long overdue clear out so that's good. xx

  4. The whole of this year seems to have galloped by without me noticing! I'd not heard of that Glitterberry drink either, so also had to look it up - sounds delicious! xx

    1. It really has just romped along!
I think Glitterberry sells out very quickly and it only appears at Christmas anyway. Hence I grabbed while it was there. :-) xx

  5. D had some glitterberry last year for Christmas. I wonder if we will have some this year. I shall have to look out for it when I shop next.
