Wednesday evening, 25-09-24

Evening, one and all.  The week seems to be flying past and I almost forgot to put out my bins for collection early tomorrow morning.  I could have lasted out another fortnight but I'm glad I don't have to.

When I started using my mobile to take photos today, I found a few that I had taken on our walk last Saturday and thought I'd share one.  It was lovely weather.

And here's those broad beans . . . doing nicely!  Not a great photo though.

Today was another very pleasant day, what with a lovely chat with Christine, some more clothes sorting so I could take stuff to Lindsey for her next pop-up shop and then personal training when Lindsey said to come early and have a look through the jackets as there were some nice ones.  And there were - I came home with two new-to-me ones.

For the time being, I have ordered a very cheap, lightweight digital camera that seemed to have some very good reviews, despite the price.  I suppose cameras have moved on a lot since I got the one that's not behaving and what would have cost a lot then doesn't now.  I have also ordered a camera card reader so maybe I can salvage the photos I took yesterday.  We will see.
I went for the lightweight on because I think It will be much more practical on my coach trips when I don't want to be lugging weight around more than I can help.

All in all, a useful sort of day really.
And now it is chill, relax, wind down time so that's exactly what I'm going to do.  All the best, everyone, and stay warm.  xx

  1. I no longer have a camera as I just use my phone-it’s made me lazy as I used to have a great Canon digital. More garden stripping today as the red bin was emptied and I promptly filled it up again! Catriona

    1. I don't feel comfortable using my phone. It's only a cheap, little, basic one and I prefer a proper camera. Digital, not a bridge or anything (although I'd love to get a really good one, should me Premium Bonds come up trumps!)
No garden stuff here today - it's raining!

    1. Mine is a very basic Android. It takes photos, just not great ones.
I've heard from a Facebook friend who lives in the hurricane hit area (whatever it's called). She's a bit concerned but I don't think she's evacuating.
Hoping you will be OK and sending love. xx

  3. A very satisfactory day. I keep meaning to say how much I like your header - gorgeous colour and so many buds.

    1. Thanks very much, Janice. They were just a tray of bedding plants but have grown and flowered beautifully. It's nice to have colour as other things are fading and dying back. xx

  4. You are reminding me that I'm very behind digitally 😂
Interesting about the camera, are they expensive? I have an older I phone - perhaps it's just me but the pics are average, not great.

    1. It was a fair bit under £100. Some I looked at were well over £1000 but they were very clever cameras.
That's what I think about my phone photos. OK. How much that is to do with the phone and how much the photographer is a matter for debate, I suspect.
I'll let you know what I think in a few days - it hasn't arrived yet. xx

  5. I've become really lazy when taking photos. My phone is all I use these day's. Hope you aren't getting the rain that we are. We've even got a flood warning though it shouldn't affect us as we're up fairly high.

    1. I don't know how bad your rain is but we have had some torrential rain at times and, at the moment, it is very windy. I'm glad my garden is a bit sheltered.
Fingers crossed any flooding is small and runs off quickly.

  6. I love my good camera. My phone takes nice photos as long as I'm not zooming in really a lot on the photo and for wildlife it isn't good at all.

    1. I think I do need to go for a really good one. I'll nurse what I have along for a while and start saving up. And do some research. xx

  7. The beans are looking great, Joy.
I hope your new camera does the job. I wouldn't know how to use one now, as I'm so used to just taking snapshots with my phone. They automatically save to my Google cloud, so uploading them to my blog takes seconds. Xx

    1. That's very clever stuff. It's a very cheap one so I'm not expecting miracles, but it seems to take nice video clips and does things my old one doesn't do like pausing, flipping, etc. And the subtitles (closed captions, I think they're called) were correct so the sound quality can't be that bad. At under £100, you can't expect miracles.
I've found a work around for the old phone too but it feels like I am nursing it through an illness. I have a new cable arriving today so fingers crossed.xx

  8. I'm glad you managed to get a digital camera that is just right for you. Sometimes it isn't necessary to spend lots of money. If you want to try something else later you can.
